Balasore: A 15-feet king cobra was rescued by forest officials on Thursday from Kalijhati village under Nilagiri block in Odisha’s Balasore district.

The reptile was later released in its natural habitat in Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary.

The villagers noticed the snake in a farm field and informed the forest department staff, who rushed to the spot and caged it. The length of the rescued king cobra was around 15 feet and a female said forest officials.

The king cobra is a species of poisonous snake and the world’s longest venomous snake.
