Bhawanipatna : At least two persons were killed and a number of others got injured when a bus, carrying over 50 passengers, veered off a bridge and plunged into a creek near Bhawanipatna Headquarters Township in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
The accident occurred at around 5.45 AM today on the national highway no-26. Two persons killed included the driver of the bus. At least 26 others were injured with 11 of them seriously. The passengers tracked inside the bus in a swift operation by fire
brigade personnel and local people.
The bus reportedly broke through the bridge wall. It’s not immediately clear what caused the driver to lose control of the bus, police said The driver of the vehicle might have possibly dozed off leading to the mishap. There is hint of ‘sleep’ in the fatal accident, police added.
