The Bengaluru court on Friday sent K T Naveen Kumar to SIT custody for five days.Naveen is accused in Gauri Lankesh Murder.

Who is Naveen Kumar:

Naveen Kumar alias Hotte Manja, a resident of Maddur in Karnataka’s Mandya district and and leader of Hindu Yuva Sena, was arrested by police on February 18 after they recovered 15 rounds of live bullets from him. A case under the Arms Act was then registered against him and he was remanded to judicial custody by a court.
Subsequently after interrogation, the SIT probing Lankesh’s murder took Naveen into their custody + on March 2 to question him.
DCP M N Anucheth, the investigating officer in the case, told PTI that Naveen has been named as an accused and arrested by the SIT for his alleged involvement in the Lankesh murder.

Gauri was shot dead by unknown by assailants outside her residence in Bengaluru on September 5, last year. She was the editor of the Gauri Lankesh Patrike, a tabloid known for “anti-establishment” views. Following her murder, several protests, across the country and especially in prominent parts of Karnataka, had taken place.
