IMD Sounds Red Alert In Seven Districts

Bhubaneswar : IMD today afternoon issued a red alert forecast of extremely heavy rainfall in seven districts of the State on Wednesday.

Extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, Sonepur, Nuapada and Jharsuguda, the latest IMD bulletin said.

The weathermen also sounded orange warning in ten other districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Koraput, Raygada, Kandhamal, Nawarangpur, Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Bargarh districts, it said.

A red alert is the strongest warning issued to officials directing them to take action, while an orange alert asks district officials to be prepared for a severe situation.
