India’s first railway university, things you need to know

New Delhi : Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will dedicate first rail university to the country. After Russia and China, it is the third such university in the world, in which railway functioning will be studied. Let’s know the special things related to this university.

This university is located in Vadodara of Gujarat, which is named National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI). Admission process has started in this university and in September this year, the first batch of 103 students of 20 states was given admission in two full residential graduate courses.

University has started two graduate programs BSc in Transportation Technology and introduced BBA in Transportation Management.

The objective of the University is to start postgraduate course from the 2019-20 academic session in areas like Transport and System Design, Transport Systems Engineering, Transport Policy and Economics.

There are 17 female and 86 male students in the university campus and they have come from 20 states of the country. 41 in BBA – Transport Management and 62 students in BSc in Transport Technology, are studying. The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned Rs. 421 crores for this project for the next five years.

There will also be hostel facility for students. This campus has not been created separately for this university, currently it will be run from the Pratap Vilas Palace. Tell you that this Pratap Vilas Palace is known as the National Academy of Indian Railways.

The place where this university is being started, is also very important in terms of building history. It was constructed from 1908 to 1914. Both institutions will run from here and soon a separate campus will be prepared. It is being told that the Railways has selected 100 acres of land for this.

Bachelor of Business Administration in Transport Management-

Through this course, the management system will be taught in the transport sector and this course will be of three years.

Bachelor of Science in Transportation Technology-

It is also a three-year course and through this information will be given to the technology used in the transport field.

Course Fees-

Students will have to pay Rs 91075 for these courses. The students of the first batch will get scholarships of 50 per cent in tuition fees. For this, the application process has ended and the candidates were selected through the NRTI Aptitude Test.
