Paralahemundi: At least 12 persons, including five children, were killed in cyclone Titli triggered landslide in far-flung Gangabada village of Odisha’s Gajapati district.
The Special Relief Commissioner, Bishnupada Sethi confirming the death, said “the tragic mishap took place yesterday at the village which located in the remotest corner of the district. As there is no motorable road connectivity to the village, one has to trek four to five kilo metres to reach the area. The Collector and SP have rushed to the spot. The next kin of the deceased will be awarded ex-gratia compensation from gratuitous relief fund”.
Four persons are still missing. The incident occurred when about 16 persons from the village had taken shelter under a cave of a hillock located near the village.
