Bhubaneswar: Experts from the industry on Saturday urged students of hospitality and tourism management course at the SOA (Deemed to be University) here to acquire good knowledge and remain open to new ideas to succeed in their careers.
“To be successful, you need to remain open to new ideas and be innovative by thinking beyond what you see while sticking to your integrity,” Mr. Debasish Patnaik, Director of The Crown, one of the city’s prominent hotels, told the students of School of Hotel Management (SHM), the faculty of hospitality and tourism management at SOA.
Mr. Patnaik, who was the chief guest at ‘Rendezvous-2018’, the annual function of the institution, also advised them to explore new opportunities for career growth and success in the profession.
Mr. Subrat Kumar Mohapatra, Assistant General Manager (HR) at the Mayfair Lagoon, who attended as the guest of honour, urged the students to acquire knowledge and passion for the profession. “In the hospitality sector, you need to have passion for your work. You have to put in more than 100 per cent efforts,” he said.
“Education does not end with the acquiring of a degree as you have to keep updating what you have learnt,” Mr. Mohapatra said. Prof. Sitikantha Mishra, Advisor and Dean of SHM, presided over the program.
