Man Trapped Inside Underground Pipeline Saved After 6-hour-Rescue Operation

Cuttack : After over 6 hours of marathon operation, rescuers have managed to save a man who was stuck inside underground 2.5 width pipeline at Tulasipur police colony locality in the city.

The plumber identified as Pranakrushna Muduli was finally dragged out of the narrow pipe at around 3.35 PM following the marathon rescue operation by Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), fire personnel.

As Muduli was brought alive from the pipeline, a large assembly of people erupted in joy and ecstasy.

It was quite a task to save Muduli. He was drained out and dehydrated.  Suction machine, breathing apparatus, drilling machine, blower and other equipment were used in the rescue operation. The man stuck inside the pipe however showed admirable guts and was often responding to us from the pipe, said Chief Fire Officer Sukant Sethi.

The man was stuck inside the pipeline at around 9 AM. While the man went inside to clean up the pipeline, the motor pump from the near pump house had been switched on by one of the staffs, who was unaware of the cleaning up the pipeline. The pressure exerted by the water flow pushed the man further deep into the pipeline. As a result the man was stranded inside the pipe, police sources said.
