Minor Girls From Bengal Rescued At Berhampur Railway Station

Berhampur: Two minor girls were rescued today from Berhampur railway station by Railway Protection Force (RPF) in distressed condition.

The minor girls, who hailed from West Bengal and were inmates of an Islamic residential school in the city, were allegedly being tortured. The duo had fled from the school, police said.

“The girls are in a state of shock. They are unable to communicate properly. However their domicile status has been ascertained”, said RPF personnel.

After rescuing the girls, they have been handed over to local Childline authorities.

The minor girls are being produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). As they are minor girls, the CWC will send them to short stay home for children and will ensure their safe sojourn in the shelter home till she attains 18 years of age, said childline personnel.

Local police are investigating into the case.
