NASA Insight Lander: Learn about 10 special things about Mars

Insight Lander, a NASA researcher vehicle sent for a detailed study of Mars, has successfully reached the surface of Mars on Monday. For a detailed study on Mars, NASA had launched the search mission for about seven months before (on 5 May of this year).

After covering a distance of 30 crore miles (45.8 crore kilometers), Insight landed on a flat ground named Elysium Planitia on Monday. This place is near the equator of this red planet and is like a sheet made from slag.

The purpose of Insight is to investigate the hidden secret within the land of Mars and gather more information. From Mars, Insight has sent a signal on earth that it is ready to start the work. It has spread its solar panel to get sunlight and is charging itself. NASA’s Insight Project Manager Tom Hoffman has said, “Insight can now work smoothly, it is recharging its batteries.”

Let us tell you about 10 things about Mars: –

1- If talk of planets in our solar system, Mars is about 14.2 crore miles from Sun. Earth is third in the solar system after which Mars is at number four. Earth is 9.3 crore miles from the sun.

2- Mars is almost half its size compared to Earth. Where the diameter of the earth is 7,926 miles, the diameter of Mars is 4,220 miles. But to be talked of weight than Mars is equal to one-tenth of Earth.

3- Mars completes the full circle of sun in 687 days. On this basis, Mars takes double time to circumambulate the Sun compared to Earth. Here is a year of 687 days.

4- One day on Mars (called Solar Day) is 24 hours and 37 minutes.

5- Cold, dusty sandstorm and tornado, all this is more on Mars then the earth. It is believed that the geography of Mars is very good for life. In summer, the maximum temperature is 30 degrees Celsius and in winter it drops from zero to 140 degrees Celsius.

6- Like earth, there are three seasons in the year of Mars: autumn, summer, and winter. Compared to Earth, every season in Mars remains almost twice as long.

7- Because of the separation of gravitational power on earth and Mars, a person with a weight of 100 pounds will weigh 38 pounds on Mars.

8- Mars has two moons – Phobos whose diameter is 13.8 miles and Damios, whose diameter is 7.8 miles.

9- Both Mars and earth are made up of four layers. The first crust that is made of ferrous basaltic stones. The second layer is made of silicate stones. The third and fourth are the outer core and the internal core. It is believed that they can be made of iron and nickel like the core of the Earth. But this core is in the shape of solid metal or it is full of fluid, yet there is no confirmation about it.

10- The atmosphere of Mars has 96% carbon dioxide, 1.93% argon, 0.14% oxygen and 2% nitrogen. Also, carbon monoxide marks have been found in the environment.
