New Delhi: The election of the Upper House for Deputy Chairman of the Upper House of the country’s Parliament in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.On behalf of the NDA alliance, JDU MPs were in Harivansh Ground, while BK Hariprasad was present in front of the opposition.
Harivansh got 125 votes, while Hariprasad got 105 votes in the account. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Mr. Everest as the Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker.
This post was vacant since June this year because of Rajya Sabha MP PJ Kurien’s retirement from the Upper House. Kurien became a Rajya Sabha MP on the Congress ticket from Kerala.
Who is Harivansh?
The ruling NDA alliance candidate Harivansh JDU is a Rajya Sabha member. JDU sent them from Bihar in the Rajya Sabha in 2014.
Born on June 30, 1956 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, when he was doing diploma in journalism from Banaras Hindu University, he was elected to the Times of India. He was a Sub Editor in weekly magazine Dharmayuga.
But after a few days he worked in the bank and then returned to journalism, and till 1989, he has been an assistant editor of ‘Ananda Bazar Patrika’ weekly magazine ‘Sunday’.After that he has been the Editor-in-Chief of Prabhat Khabar for more than 25 years.
Prior to joining the Rajya Sabha, he has also been the Additional Information Advisor (1990-91) of the former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar.62-year-old Harivansh is an editor of ‘Prabhat News’, a well-known newspaper in Bihar and Jharkhand.
The special thing is that he is also very close to former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar.
Prime Minister Modi said about the Harivansh in the Rajya Sabha, “Harivansh ji was close to the former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar and Chandrasekhar’s resignation was already known to him, but he did not leak the news for the popularity of the newspaper.”
Congress MP BK Hariprasad has been nominated for the Vice Presidential post from the opposition.
For the first time, the BK Hariprasad, elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1990, is the third term in the Upper House and he is in-charge of the Congress in Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. BK Hariprasad, who was Congress General Secretary, was born in Bengaluru on 29 July 1954.
