New Delhi: Railway has also started preparations for the Kumbh Mela held in Sangam Nagari Prayagraj in January next year. Indian Railways will provide special facilities to the pilgrims visiting Kumbh. Under this, a large number of special trains will also be run. Special arrangements have made for the passengers to not any trouble in getting unreserved tickets.
Railway will not take ‘fair surcharge’
Before the Kumbh Mela held in January next year, the railways have decided to end the ‘fair surcharge’. This is a fee that is charged by the railway from passengers at big fairs. The Railway Board has said in an order to end the ‘fair surcharge’. Railway takes surcharges on ticket booking of big fairs held throughout the country. This fee takes the Railways to complete additional internal expenditure during the fair. It has been said in a circular that the Ministry of Railways has decided to end the ‘fair surcharge’ from December 11.
Projects of 700 crores started
Railways have started 41 projects for the Kumbh Mela held in Prayagraj (Allahabad) in January next year. 700 crore rupees will be incurred on this. According to a senior railway official, 29 out of 41 projects have been completed. The others are in the final stages and are about to be completed soon.
According to Rajiv Chaudhary, General Manager of North Central Railway (NCR), four big lounge have been constructed at Prayagraj junction railway station. In this, various facilities can be provided to 10,000 pilgrims. There have been separate toilets for men and women, vending stalls, water booths, ticket counters, LCD TVs and CCTVs, In the same way, the lounges are also made on other stations.
800 additional special trains also
During the Kumbh Mela, for the pilgrims coming to the fair, there is a proposal to run 800 special trains from various stations of Prayagraj district. These trains will be separate from regular trains being run by Delhi-NCR.
Special arrangements for NRIs
There are plans to run four to five special trains for carrying 5000 ‘Overseas Indians’ from Allahabad to New Delhi. These NRIs will go to participate in ‘Pravasi Bharatiya Divas’ in Varanasi and will go to Allahabad to participate in Kumbh Mela from Varanasi. During the fair, the railways will use the technology including Artificial Intelligence (AI) in large scale to deal with the huge crowd of passengers in this holy city.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
IBM will provide video analysis services for crowd control using Artificial Intelligence while there will be a large number of powerful CCTV cameras to monitor the situation and there will be several LED screens to display the information.
Train tickets will be easily available
As a special case, the Railway Ministry has decided that 11 stations in the Prayagraj area will be allowed to book from 15 days prior to the unreserved railway tickets. North Central Railway has also launched ‘Rail Kumbh Service Mobile App’ in Allahabad.
