Rourkela: The Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments of National Institute of Technology Rourkela together are holding a short term course on a very contemporary topic ‘Latest Trends in Energy Optimization, Automation, Condition Monitoring and Maintenance in Industrial Environment for the industrial executives.”
The five day course started this morning and will continue till 16th March 2018.). This was inaugurated today in the Senate Hall of the institute.
There are forty-five participants in the short term course for five days. All the participants belong to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), situated Vizag.
“This is being done at the request of the RINL and will continue till 9th of this month,” informed course coordinating faculty of the department Dayal Ranjan Parhi, program coordinator. Dayal said, “for the growth and substance of industry the four factors energy, automation, environment protection and maintenance are very essential.”
RINL management felt the necessity of these very important factors for which it requested NIT Rourkela for organising such a short term course for their chosen executives. “Soon arrangements were made at our end, besides, we are providing them the lodging and boarding while rest of the expenses being borne by RINL,” informed Dayal.
During the five days, the content of which has been prepared as per the requirement of the sponsoring industry, the participating executives will learn many of the intricacies.
“Then RIML will implement the things learnt at its own end to keep it at par with other industries,” informed the coordinating faculty.
NIT Rourkela will conduct the course through its own in house faculties available to it. “These are our expertise for which we do not require any external experts to train the trainees,” informed Dayal.
He opined that NIT Rourkela was providing expertise in the mentioned fields and would have no problem in meeting the requirement of RINL. These executives already have idea in the respective fields.
“Their knowledge will be further enhanced with the latest trends in the industry so that they will be more competitive,” he explained.
The course was inaugurated by Director of NIT Rourkela Animesh Biswas. Inaugurating it the Director spoke about the need of such short term course for all those who were in industry, to make them not only competitive but also a concerned face for the society as far as environment was concerned. In addition, he also said, “we here in NIT Rourkela believe that we are for the society and must contribute towards its development and safety through such training.” He also stressed that, to come, “amongst the top institutes of the globe such activities will help us immensely along with our research work.” At present, National Institute of Technology Rourkela has advanced its ranking in the Times Higher Education Asia University ranking. It has got 126th position and last it was placed between 191 and 200. Registrar SK Upadhyaya said, “No industry can sustain without managing these four factors and any neglect to single component will bring in very bad situation.”
At the end of the five days course the participants will be given away certificates for participation.
