Bhubaneswar:At least twenty Indian crewmembers including an Odia sailor from Kandhamal district are stranded in Jebel Ali port in Dubai for the past two months on disputes among the exporters and importers.

The merchant ship MV ‘Shaker-2’ has been detained at the port in United Arab Emirates (UAE) over dispute involving the exporters and importers. With the ship being detained, the crewmembers including an Odia sailor Dibya Ranjan Behera from Khajuriapada in Phulbani district are practically held hostage by the ship owners though they have no fault of their own, said Kandhamal Lok Sabha member, Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh.

Singh in a letter addressed to External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has sought the union ministry’s intervention in this regard.
