Phulbani: Odisha’s anti-corruption vigilance sleuths today arrested a junior clerk in sub registrar office in G. Udayagiri block of Kandhamal district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a complainant, vigilance sleuths said.
The accused Kumuda Chandra Ojha had demanded the bribe from the complainant Manoj Kumar Samal for providing him with encumbrance certificate of a landed property.
After receiving a complaint, vigilance officials laid a trap and caught Ojha red-handed in his office room while he was accepting the bribe from the complainant, the officials said.
The money was recovered from Ojha’s possession and he was arrested.
He will be later forwarded to court, they added.
