Rourkela: With the arrest of two assailants, the Rourkela police today cracked the woman insurance agent murder case which had rocked the steel township.
The 47-year-old Sujata Mohapatra was murdered on February 15. The victim’s body with multiple cut mark had been retrieved near the Jagannath Leprosy Colony close to the Tarini slum settlement.
The arrested persons- Sagar Mukhi and Bhole Mukhi (in their mid-20s)- were incidentally her clients obtaining life insurance policy from her.
It was sheer greed of money that drove the duo to kill the woman.
They stabbed her by a sharp weapon and hit her head by an iron rod. She succumbed to injuries on the spot. The accused persons were under the impression that the woman being an insurance agent would be carrying large sum of money. But they were shocked to find only Rs 1,200 cash from deceased’s purse, said Additional Superintendent of Police, Durga Prasad Dash.
