Bhubaneswar: Cold wave condition continues to sweep across Odisha with the mercury dipping to 5.5 degrees Celsius in Phulbani, making it the coldest places in the state till 8.30 am today.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar officials, cold wave condition is likely to continue for at least next 72 hours.
Phulbani with minimum recorded temperature of 5.5 degrees Celsius were followed by Angul, Daringibadi and Sonepur, which recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological centre here said.
Eight places which recorded minimum temperature of less than 10 degree Celsius are Phulbani- 5.5 degrees, Angul- 7 degrees, Daringibadi- 7 degrees, Sonepur- 7 degrees, Titilagargh- 7.6 degrees, Bhawanipatna- 9 degrees, Keonjhar- 9.4 degrees, Talcher- 9.5 degrees and Sambalpur- 9.8 degrees.
The mercury stood at 13 degrees Celsius in state capital Bhubaneswar, while neighbouring Cuttack city recorded a minimum temperature of 11.6 degrees Celsius. The Paradip port town was the hottest place with the recording of minimum temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar said.
