Elton John: Will protect Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from media intrusion that killed Diana

New parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been surrounded by criticism ever since the Duchess became a part of the Royal family.

Recently, the Duke and Duchess were embroiled in another controversy when they were pictured leaving the south of France over the weekend by private jet for the fourth time.

Harry and Meghan along with their three-month-old son Archie recently took off for a holiday in the French Riviera.

The couple, who is very vocal about environmental issues, was pictured stepping on board the Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign jet to fly off to Castel Mont-Alban. It is owned by Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish and overlooks the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France.

They were massively criticized for taking a private jet for their holiday and many British publications called them out for their hypocrisy.

After the backlash, Sir Elton John, who was a very close friend to Late Princess Diana, Harry’s mother, took to twitter to defend the couple.

In a series of tweets he criticized the press and cleared up speculation about the couple’s use of a private jet. He wrote, “I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week.”

He added, “Prince Harry’s Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends. I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death.”

He even praised Harry and Meghan for their commitment towards charity. This is not the first time that Meghan and Harry have been criticized relentlessly by the press.
