Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to clamp on private tuition by teachers of government junior and degree colleges.
“The higher education department has taken an in-principle decision on a ban on private tuition. A notification is this regard will be issued shortly”, higher education minister Arun Kumar Sahoo told newsmen here today.
The department has received reports of college teachers neglecting classroom teaching and taking up private tuition in coaching institutes. Such act is adversely affecting the academic activities in colleges. Any deviation on part of college teachers will be sternly dealt with, he said.
The sitting MLAs used to figure in the list of college governing body members. It has also been decided to exclude the lawmakers from the enlisted governing body members. Distinguished academicians and educationists would only be considered for enrollment as governing body members
