Jayadev Vihar air quality index slips to ‘very poor’

The air quality index in Jayadev Vihar locality in the city has slipped to ‘very poor’ category much below the ambiance level.

The poor air quality in the heart of Odisha’s capital city was assessed at 335 range by live air tracker recording at 10 am today by a global weather monitoring agency.

The weather monitoring agency- Skymet- has recommended the use of face masks and air purifiers by people living in Jayadev Vihar locality and peripheral areas.

An AQI between 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401-500 ‘severe’. An AQI above 500 falls in the ‘severe plus’ category.

The Jayadev Vihar locality continues to bear the brunt of vehicular pollution with national highway and busy roads passing through the bustling urban settlement.
