UU Odia Chair Satyabadi Poised For Revival Under The Samaja’s Initiative

Bhubaneswar: The Odia chair Satyabadi- the workplace of Pandit Gopabandhu Das, one of the architects of modern Odisha- will be shortly revived in the premiere Utkal University.

The coveted Satyabadi chair which had been set up in the university from the Rs 2 lakh initial funding of leading Odia daily Samaja had become non-operational for several years. It is being revived with wholehearted patronage of the Samaja, said UU vice chancellor Soumendra Mohan Pattnaik while interacting with the leading Odia daily’s management yesterday.

The Satyabadi chair was set up to study the contribution of medieval poets in Odia literature. Steps will be taken to recruit the required number of Odia professors for the effective functioning of Satyabadi chair, he said.

Among others who graced the meeting held for expeditious revival of Satyabadi Odia chair are secretary and publisher the Samaja Niranjan Rath, working general manager Priyabrata Mohanty, Editor-in-charge Sushant Mohanty, bureau chief, Samarendu Das, lifetime member Lok Sevak Mandal, Pravash Acharya.
